There’s something new in the air!
Pet Airways is the first pet-only airline. Unlike most airlines that require pets to be transported in the cargo hold of the plane, animals flying on Pet Airways travel in the main cabin. Animals are continuously monitored by pet attendants in a fully-lit, climate-controlled cabin with fresh air being circulated. "The experience [of flying in the cargo hold] is frightening to the pets, and can cause severe emotional and physical harm, even death," says Dan Wiesel, president/CEO of Pet Airways.
According to Pet Airways, pet owners can leave their animals at the airport with a pet attendant and track their progress online at their website. Depending on transit time, animals will be offered toilet facilities and food and water as necessary during stops.
For $149 one way, "pawsengers" can fly to and from Denver, New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles.
